Senior Planning Enforcement Officer

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Shropshire to assist with the appointment of a Senior Planning Enforcement Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £31.54 - £44.00 per hour

Summary:

The Senior Planning Enforcement Officer will support the delivery of an effective planning enforcement service across Shropshire. The postholder will manage their own caseload of planning enforcement cases while supporting the consideration and processing of other enforcement cases and appeals.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a personal caseload of planning enforcement cases, including evaluating evidence and liaising with relevant colleagues and external agencies.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for delegated decisions and appropriate enforcement action.
  • Provide specialist planning enforcement advice to stakeholders and other Council teams.
  • Provide professional and technical advice to ensure development is carried out in accordance with approved plans, conditions, regulations, codes of practice, standards and Council policies.
  • Identify appropriate methods of remediation where necessary.
  • Attend and present reports at Planning Committee, court hearings, public inquiries, site meetings and other relevant meetings.

Essentials:

  • Relevant professional and technical knowledge and experience in planning enforcement and development management.
  • Evidence of experience in managing planning enforcement cases and evaluating relevant evidence.
  • Experience of preparing professional reports and recommendations.
  • Experience of presenting information and evidence to committees, hearings, inquiries or similar forums.
  • Experience of providing specialist planning enforcement advice to stakeholders.
