BPN Staffing Solutions is currently looking for a Cytology Technologist for a contract at a facility in Baltimore, MD.
Contract Details:
- 12 weeks
- Shift: Day 5x8-Hour (08:00 - 16:30)
- Weekly gross pay= $2,200 - $2,400 (travel stipend included)
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Examines cell samples to detect abnormalities in the color, shape, or size of cellular components and patterns. Submits slides with abnormal cell structures to pathologists for further examination. Documents specimens by verifying patients and specimens information.
- Prepares and analyzes samples such as papanicolaou (PAP) smear body fluids and fine needle aspirations (FNAs) to detect abnormal conditions.
- Maintains effective laboratory operations by adhering to standards of specimen collection, preparation, or laboratory safety. Adjusts, maintains, or repairs laboratory equipment such as microscopes.
- Performs karyotyping or organizing of chromosomes according to standardized ideograms.
- Assigns tasks or coordinates task assignments to ensure adequate performance of laboratory activities.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of principles of biology and medicine.
- Must possess finger dexterity and arm/hand steadiness.
- Must be able to match or detect differences among colors including shades of color and brightness.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university with a concentration in Cytotechnology; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience OR Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university plus one year internship in AMA/ASC approved school of Cytotechnology, followed by successful completion of , or eligibility to Registry examination of ASCP
- Must have 2 years of experience
- High volume lab experience
Certifications & Licenses:
- ASCP Certification (American Society for Clinical Pathology)
