Overview:

Our client, a leading offshore law firm, is seeking a dedicated and ambitious individual to provide administrative and legal support to their team of lawyers and partners in the BVI. This position offers a unique opportunity for candidates with experience in an office environment to transition into a legal support role, with potential pathways to becoming a qualified lawyer. Our client seeks someone who is now based in the BVI.

Reporting Structure:

The Paralegal will report directly to the fee earner responsible for each specific matter within the client's organization.

Principal Duties:

Office Administration and Other Responsibilities:

- Accurately set up new client matters in the accounting and database system, including due diligence research.

- Maintain up-to-date files and archive concluded matters.

- Organize diaries, schedule meetings, and handle telephone queries.

- Retrieve information to support legal decision-making.

- Assist in creating and formatting documents and presentations.

- Develop a working knowledge of legal terms, procedures, and documentation.

- Undertake project work and participate in practice development.

- Carry out client work under the supervision of senior fee earners and partners.

Supporting the Team by:

- Assisting lawyers in providing clear and concise legal advice.

- Drafting legal documentation and managing transactions.

- Conducting legal research and collating information.

- Assisting in client relationship development.

- Preparing fee estimates, quotations, and team-specific financials.

- Assisting with billing and other financial aspects.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Undergraduate degree or legal conversion (LLB/GDL/LPC) or A-level standard education, with willingness to study towards a legal qualification.

- Good understanding of the legal system and commercial awareness.

- Previous experience in a law firm or legal environment preferred.

- Familiarity with precedents, timekeeping, billing systems, and MS Office applications.

- Must be based in the BVI
