Overview:

The job purpose of a role of an intermediate business analyst is to bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions within an organization. They play a crucial role in gathering and analyzing requirements, identifying problems or opportunities, and proposing solutions to improve business processes and systems.

Key responsibilities:

Main duties include brainstorming with the Business Analysis department to define the scope of projects, review requirements, and approve timeframes. Other responsibilities:

  • Requirements Elicitation and Analysis: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze business requirements. Conduct interviews, workshops, and meetings to understand current processes, pain points, and desired outcomes. Analyze and prioritize requirements, ensuring they align with business goals and objectives.
  • Documentation: Create clear and concise documentation, such as business requirement documents (BRDs), functional specifications, use cases, and user stories. Ensure that requirements are accurately captured, well-documented, and communicated to stakeholders and development teams.
  • Business Process Analysis: Analyze existing business processes, workflows, and systems to identify areas for improvement and optimization. Map out as-is and to-be processes, identify gaps and inefficiencies, and propose solutions to enhance productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Solution Design and Evaluation: Collaborate with technical teams to design and evaluate potential solutions. Provide input for system design, architecture, and integration. Assess vendor products and technologies, evaluate feasibility, and make recommendations based on business requirements and constraints.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Management: Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams. Facilitate effective communication, manage expectations, and build relationships with stakeholders. Present findings, recommendations, and project updates to stakeholders, ensuring their understanding and buy-in.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Assist in the creation and execution of test plans, test cases, and user acceptance testing (UAT). Collaborate with testers and developers to ensure that implemented solutions meet the defined requirements. Participate in quality assurance processes, ensuring adherence to standards and best practices.
  • Change Management: Support change management activities by identifying and addressing the impacts of proposed changes on business processes, systems, and stakeholders. Assist in developing training materials, conducting training sessions, and providing support during system implementations or upgrades.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor the performance of implemented solutions, collect feedback, and identify areas for enhancement. Propose and implement process improvements to drive efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation. Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to the business analysis field.
  • Project Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, development teams, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. Contribute to project planning, estimation, and risk management activities. Participate in Agile or Waterfall project methodologies, depending on the organization's approach.
  • Knowledge Sharing and Mentoring: Share knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned with other business analysts and team members. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior business analysts. Contribute to the development of business analysis standards, templates, and methodologies within the organization.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in computer science, business informatics or a related field is typically required.
  • Experience: 3 years or more.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Have strong understanding of databases and business analyst tools.
  • Experience with SQL.
  • IIBA certifications would be advantageous.
