Qualifications and Experience:
  • National Diploma in Production or Operations Management
  • Must be competent in Microsoft Office packages
  • 10 to 15 years experience in production management
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a managerial or supervisory role
  • Sound understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Experience in Syspro (added advantage)
  • Experience as a 16.2 legal appointee (added advantage)
Responsibilties:
1. Production Planning & Control
  • Review and ensure correct execution of production Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Streamline and manage production workflows for efficiency
  • Monitor and execute the daily production plan
  • Oversee production output to ensure daily and weekly targets are consistently met
  • Manage the production schedule effectively to meet customer and operational requirements
  • Identify and manage nonconformities; implement corrective actions promptly
  • Set, track, and evaluate daily performance targets across production teams
  • Address underperformance proactively through engagement and support
  • Ensure timely replenishment of raw materials to avoid production delays
2. Machine Performance & Efficiency
  • Ensure machines are adequately supplied with raw materials to run optimally
  • Monitor and manage the overall efficiency of production machinery
  • Identify and record mechanical or process issues; collaborate with the maintenance team to resolve them
  • Contribute to capacity planning and provide input on machinery upgrades or replacements
3. Quality Control
  • Establish, communicate, and enforce quality control standards across the production floor
  • Ensure that all output consistently meets internal and customer quality standards
  • Oversee all quality assurance processes and teams
  • Track and meet defined quality targets
  • Perform root cause analysis to reduce rejects and rework
  • Evaluate challenges within the production process and implement continuous improvements
4. Staff Leadership & Management
  • Motivate and guide the production team to achieve efficiency, quality, and performance targets
  • Maintain open, clear, and consistent communication with team members
  • Support Production Supervisors and Team Leaders with technical advice and operational leadership
  • Drive improvement in attendance and reduce absenteeism
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll input submissions by supervisors and team leaders
  • Manage staff costs and overtime effectively within budget constraints
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching or support where needed
  • Ensure all policies, procedures, and company regulations are adhered to within the department
  • Maximize the effective utilization of available staff resources
5. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
  • Collaborate with staff to plan and implement improvement projects within the production environment
  • Document results from continuous improvement initiatives
  • Promote innovation and encourage a culture of efficiency, accountability, and performance enhancement
6. Production Reporting & Data Analysis
  • Compile and report on daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly production and quality data
  • Compare actual production performance against planned targets and highlight variances
  • Analyze operational reports and use data insights to drive continuous improvements and decision-making
7. Health, Safety & Housekeeping
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free production environment at all times
  • Ensure all waste and scrap materials are cleared from the floor and surrounding areas
  • Enforce the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) among staff
  • Ensure safety signage is properly displayed around machinery and work zones
  • Identify and correct unsafe behaviors or conditions immediately
  • Monitor and ensure all safety devices and guards on machinery are fully functional
