SALES MANAGER - CONSUMABLES 

JOB PURPOSE

Achieves maximum sales profitability, growth and account penetration through managing the sales team by using specialised knowledge of the relevant technology.

JOB FUNCTION

  • Sales and marketing strategy and targets are set and managed
  • Existing business is retained at the agreed percentage, and market share is increased by obtaining new business
  • Departmental sales performance is monitored and managed
  • Monthly/annual sales budget is set/met, area sales strategy and targets are set/managed
  • Products/services are delivered to customers as per SLA, and all client requests are responded to within 24 hours
  • Improvement areas are identified and strategies implemented for added value opportunities
  • Immediate action is taken on non-compliance issues
  • Customer information is captured on Hawkeye as it is received, and customer contact lists are maintained/updated
  • All expenditures are managed as per company policy
  • Quotations are completed as and when required, sign off on quotes and tenders within the limit of authority
  • Market research is conducted in designated areas, and presentations are delivered to customers as required
  • Marketing events and activities are arranged as per the strategy
  • Manpower capabilities for the department are planned, selected/developed, company HR and Disciplinary policy is adhered to
  • Team performance is monitored/managed where necessary, and sales force KRAs are managed
  • Technical direction is provided as required, and objectives and targets are reviewed against standards

QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Chemical/Metallurgical)
  • Sales and Marketing tertiary qualification would be an advantage
  • At least 10 years of relevant sales experience, including 5 years of sales management experience
  • Exposure in a Process Plant is advantageous
  • Good communication skills, aligns performance for success, customer focused, persuasive, quality orientated, builds a successful team and strategic working relationships
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
