About the job Financial Controller
An exciting opportunity has become available with a leading national logistics and supply chain organisation for a commercially focused Financial Controller to join their Finance team.
This is not a traditional financial reporting role. We are looking for someone who enjoys partnering with operations, analysing branch performance, identifying trends and driving profitability across a national branch network.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, analyse and manage branch Profit & Loss statements across multiple branches.
- Analyse revenue, expenses, margins and operational cost drivers.
- Identify financial trends, risks and opportunities to improve branch profitability.
- Partner with Branch Managers to review monthly financial performance and recommend optimisation initiatives.
- Investigate variances and provide meaningful commercial insights.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
- Monitor and improve key cost drivers including fleet, labour, fuel and transport costs.
- Produce accurate management reports and financial analysis to support business decision-making.
- Travel to branches to engage with operational teams and support performance improvement initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Management Accounting or a related field.
- CA(SA) or CIMA qualification (or significant progress towards completion) will be highly advantageous.
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in Financial Controlling, Commercial Finance or Management Accounting.
- Proven experience managing branch or multi-site Profit & Loss reporting.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience within the logistics, transport, courier, distribution or supply chain industry is essential.
- Experience with Power BI and ERP reporting systems will be advantageous.
