As the go-to commercial expert, you'll be involved in every stage of the project lifecycle from feasibility studies and tender preparation (estimating is an advantage), right through to final accounts and profitability reports. This is your chance to play a critical role in projects that shape the future of mining and infrastructure.

Purpose of the Role: 

A quantity surveyor manages all costs relating to projects, from the initial calculations, pre-feasibility to the final agreement and final account statement.

Quantity surveyors seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality. Many of these are specified by statutory building regulations, which the quantity surveyor needs to understand and adhere to.

A quantity surveyor is involved in a project from the start, preparing estimates and costs of the work.

When the project is in progress, quantity surveyors keep track of any variations to the contract that may affect costs and create reports to show profitability.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
  • Draft and review contracts for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Monitor site progress and prepare daily/weekly reports.
  • Review subcontractor quotations and advise on claims.
  • Conduct cost analysis, value management, and risk assessments.
  • Expedite payments, manage bonds, and prepare final accounts.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, budgets, and financial reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Engage with clients, mine representatives, and internal management.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree/Diploma in Quantity Surveying or related RICS qualification.
  • 4-6 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction/mining.
  • Knowledge of FIDIC, NEC, GCC & JBCC contracts.
  • Strong numeracy, financial management, and report writing skills.
  • Fully bilingual English as main language.
  • Advantage: Qualified planner, experience in mine boring operations.
