Wages Administrator 

The Wages Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of weekly wages for approximately 800 employees, as well as assisting with monthly salaried staff payroll. This role requires extensive experience with VIP Payroll and a strong understanding of Bargaining Council (Road Freight) regulations. The incumbent will also be responsible for all leave and sick leave allocations, ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing:

  • Capture and process weekly wages for approximately 800 employees accurately and on time.
  • Assist in the processing of monthly salaried staff payroll.
  • Ensure all payroll transactions comply with company policies and legislative requirements.
  • Maintain payroll records and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Process new hires, terminations, and changes in employee details.

Bargaining Council (Road Freight):

  • Ensure compliance with Bargaining Council requirements.
  • Submit necessary reports and payments related to the Bargaining Council.
  • Stay updated on industry-specific regulations affecting payroll and wages.

Leave and Sick Leave Management:

  • Accurately allocate and track all types of leave, including sick leave, annual leave, and family responsibility leave.
  • Ensure leave balances are correctly maintained and updated.
  • Address employee leave queries and discrepancies.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure adherence to relevant labor laws and tax regulations.
  • Generate payroll reports for management and auditors as required.
  • Handle queries related to payroll, wages, and benefits promptly.
  • Work closely with HR and finance teams to ensure payroll accuracy.

System and Process Management:

  • Maintain and update payroll systems (VIP Payroll).
  • Continuously improve payroll processes for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure proper documentation and archiving of payroll-related information.

Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Matric Certificate (essential).
  • Payroll or HR-related qualification (advantageous).
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in payroll administration, specifically wages processing.
  • Experience working with VIP Payroll (essential).
  • Previous exposure to Bargaining Council (Road Freight) regulations (highly advantageous).

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong numerical and data entry skills with a high level of accuracy.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll procedures and tax regulations.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other payroll-related software.
