Minimum requirements:

  • 3 years Estimator experience
  • 5 years Freight Forwarding background
  • Previous Tender / RFQ / RFI experience
  • Ability to review a tender, decide on required input, engage with relevant parties, and compile the technical and commercial response for the required Scope of Work.
  • Work in SDV quotation module (relevant training will be provided)
  • Previous Project Pricing experience essential
  • Multimodal (Air, Ocean & Road Freight) pricing experience both inbound & outbound (import & export)
  • Abnormal cargo pricing experience (i.e., heavy lift, air & ocean charters)
  • Previous experience in a similar position

Responsibilities:

  • This role covers project related estimates and tenders
  • Responsible for estimates and tenders for Durban office
  • Support National Commercial Team (New Business, Client Retention, Supply Chain Design \ Value Added Services) with cost estimate requests and tenders
  • Projects Pricing Estimators
  • Analysis of RFP / RFQ / RFI / Tenders to ensure we understand requirements
  • Consolidate / QC tender responses in terms of:
  • Technical Response (The proposed solution / SOW)
  • Commercial Response (Pricing)
  • The SDV Quotation module doesn't allow for complex project estimates
  • Often, project estimates need to be compiled in client specific templates
  • Were possible, utilize the quotation module to compile cost estimates
  • Drive quality indicators:
  • Hit ratio
  • Profitability
  • Turnaround time
  • To discuss rate submissions
  • To discuss solutions
  • Rates negotiations:
  • Negotiate rates where necessary with Shipping lines / Transporters / Airlines
  • Ensure rates are competitive
  • 3 quote principle to be followed on abnormal quotes
  • Rates Library:
  • Ensure that rates are updated regularly on the rates library
  • Support Structures:
  • Ensure a proper handover of quotes / tenders secured to the operations team / management, through the assistance of the relevant client facing individual (New Business, Client Retention, Supply Chain Design \ Value Added Services)
