Job Title:

Internal Sales Clerk

Reports to:

Internal Sales Manager

Purpose of the Role:

To provide exceptional customer service by managing customer inquiries, processing orders, and supporting the sales team to ensure smooth sales operations. The role requires a solid understanding of electrical components and industry-related products.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

  • Respond to customer inquiries (phone, email, or walk-ins) regarding products, pricing, and availability.
  • Provide technical assistance and advice on electrical products when needed.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.

Sales Support:

  • Process sales orders, quotations, and invoices accurately using the companys ERP/CRM system.
  • Collaborate with the external sales team to manage and coordinate customer orders.
  • Prepare and follow up on quotes provided to customers.
  • Manage backorders and keep customers informed about delivery timelines.

Product Knowledge and Promotion:

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the companys electrical and related product ranges.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell complementary products to customers.
  • Stay updated on new products, trends, and competitor activities in the electrical industry.

Stock and Inventory Management:

  • Monitor stock levels and communicate with the procurement team to ensure availability of products.
  • Assist with stock control and inventory counts when required.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records.
  • Generate and provide sales reports to management when requested.
  • Ensure all sales documentation is properly completed and filed.

Key Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Matric (Grade 12) Essential.
  • Electrical qualification or courses (advantageous).

Experience:

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in Internal Sales, preferably in the electrical or related industry.
  • Proven track record of working with electrical components or similar technical products.

Skills:

  • Strong technical understanding of electrical components and related products.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with ERP/CRM systems (e.g., SAP, Syspro) is an advantage.
