Job purpose:

The Infrastructure Manager is responsible for providing the strategic direction for the infrastructure function on a company level. You will lead the development of infrastructure architecture, planning and implementation of standards and procedures for the organisation. Together with the successful candidate, systems admin engineers and third-party service providers, you will provide a reliable, highly available server and network infrastructure service to users.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure systems reliability and SLA's are met
  • Oversee the IT infrastructure department, including Servers, Services, Network and VoIP and end-user support
  • Manage day to day operations across the team, continuously improving costs, performance and end user satisfaction
  • Manage the IT infrastructure budget
  • Manage and achieve full value of IT assets
  • Manage relationships with service providers. Measure and maintain relevant SLA metrics
  • Report on the health of the environment, identify risk and improvement areas, plan and implement changes to benefit the company and mitigate and reduce risk
  • Provide in depth technical expertise to strategic, tactical and operations initiatives
  • Keep abreast of latest technology trends and opportunities, with the intention of benefiting the company
  • Interface with Business Unit managers to provide reporting, solutions and advise on their objectives
  • Work closely with project managers to meet timelines and targets on new and existing projects and initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot any infrastructure issues
  • Design and implement processes and procedures relating to the company's IT policies and the company's benefit

Relevant Qualification:

  • ITIL and ISO27001 accreditations preferred
  • At least 10+ years of IT experience including managing teams responsible for architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management and infrastructure planning and operations
  • Experience in areas such as network design and administration, data center operations, database administration, and systems programming and administration
  • Strong management and people development skills
  • Understanding of ITIL practices
  • Ability to manage internal and external projects from inception to completion
  • Expertise in setting and managing customer expectations
  • Skill in conceptualising creative solutions as well as documenting them and presenting them to senior management
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs with ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence
  • Ability to develop and deliver projects using leading edge technologies
  • Experience implementing projects and working with vendors

Competencies:

  • Extensive technical knowledge across various technologies

  • Good understanding and familiarity with cloud infrastructure, Azure an advantage
  • Good understanding of SQL database and other data structures
