Lead Desktop Engineer - 8 Month Contract

Key Experience and Skills:

  1. Extensive Technical Expertise:
    • Advanced knowledge of desktop systems, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), networking, and enterprise-level IT environments.
    • Expertise in advanced troubleshooting, system optimization, and supporting complex IT infrastructures.
    • In-depth understanding of IT security, data protection, and compliance protocols.
  2. Leadership and Team Management:
    • Leading and managing a team of desktop engineers, mentoring junior and senior team members, and providing technical guidance.
    • Coordinating the execution of IT projects, including desktop deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting initiatives.
    • Acting as the escalation point for complex technical issues and ensuring resolution.
    • Responsible for team performance, training, and resource allocation.
  3. Project and Stakeholder Management:
    • Overseeing large-scale projects, such as desktop rollouts, migrations, and system implementations.
    • Communicating directly with management, clients, or stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and objectives.
    • Ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  4. Strategic Input and Continuous Improvement:
    • Contributing to the development of IT strategies, policies, and procedures to enhance desktop support and efficiency.
    • Identifying opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and better performance.
    • Managing budgets and resources for desktop support operations and ensuring systems are well-maintained and secure.
  5. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, acting as a liaison between IT teams and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Preparing and presenting reports on desktop support performance, issues, and resolutions to senior management.

Additional Requirements:

  • Project Management Experience: May involve leading cross-functional teams, handling IT budgeting, and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Certifications: Advanced IT certifications like Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), CompTIA Network+, ITIL certification, or equivalent can be beneficial.
  • Vendor Management: Ability to work with third-party vendors and external support services
