Minimum Requirements
Educational:
- Matric / Grade 12 (minimum)
- Qualified Artisan (N5), Trade Test
- Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years experience in a heavy industrial environment
- Sound knowledge of automated manufacturing equipment
Major Responsibilities and Key Result Areas
Maintenance
- Conduct daily planned maintenance routines.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance routines, including:
- Routine inspections and early diagnosis of possible equipment failures or excessive wear.
- Communicating with supervisors/production to schedule preventative maintenance.
- Arranging for parts to be available promptly for preventative maintenance routines.
Fault Diagnosis/Repairs to Equipment
- Diagnose the root cause of equipment failures.
- Plan and implement actions to address the cause of failure.
- Repair failures to a "good as new" condition as quickly as possible.
- Report on actions taken and record downtime.
- Verify the correct operation of equipment following repairs and obtain manufacturing process approval for its operating condition.
Service to Production Requirements
- Be available at all times to assist with production requests.
- Assist production in resolving process-related problems.
- Provide operator training as required.
- Communicate production planning changes to production runs in a timely manner.
- Identify and communicate potential production problems, offer advice, and report back in writing to the maintenance supervisor.
Maintaining Machine Process Capabilities
- Perform "first off" inspections on all process changes.
- Periodically inspect manufactured products against quality requirements.
- Inspect statistical process charts to evaluate equipment capability and make necessary corrections.
- Plot engineering-related statistical process charts and monitor equipment performance.
- Report out-of-control conditions in writing to a superior.
- Maintain daily housekeeping standards.
