Technical Manager
Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities
ENGINEERING & MAINTENANCE

Manage planned and preventative maintenance to maintain 98% uptime.
-
Coordinate schedules, resources, and service providers to reduce downtime.
-
Oversee equipment upgrades and ensure projects meet time, quality, and budget targets.
-
Ensure maintenance meets HACCP, ISO, and NOSA standards.
-
Monitor utility efficiency (steam, water, electricity, wastewater).
BUDGETING & CAPEX
-
Prepare and manage maintenance budgets, controlling overtime and operational costs.
-
Submit CAPEX inputs and ensure projects comply with procurement and BEE policies.
HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT
-
Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental legislation.
-
Conduct risk assessments and achieve departmental safety targets.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
-
Lead and develop the team through performance management and training plans.
-
Monitor wrench time (60% target) and improve team productivity.
-
Recruit, coach, and maintain discipline in line with company policies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
-
Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering degree, or N6/T4 equivalent
-
Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) for factories
-
Minimum 5 years experience in:
-
Maintenance environment
-
Maintenance management role
-
FMCG industry
-
-
Experience with:
-
PLC and SCADA systems (advantageous)
-
NH3 refrigeration and coal boilers (beneficial)
-
Pragma or similar maintenance systems (minimum 3 years)
-
Budget control (minimum 3 years)
-
-
Strong planning, organizing, and communication skills

Valid Code EB drivers license
-
Proficient in MS Office and control instrumentation

Knowledge of:
-
Boilers, compressors, refrigeration systems
-
Dairy processing, filling, and packaging machinery
-
-
Willingness to work in extreme environmental conditions and at heights
