Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure all aspects of EE are complied with
  • Assume role of Employment Equity Manager for the Company
  • Ensure that a committee is established which meets at least quarterly with proactive plans on addressing goals within the EEA13. Combine this with training committee.
  • Ensure minutes are taken and signed and that a relevant EEA13 is always maintained and approved
  • Compile EEA4 & EEA2 and along with HR team, submit to Group HR Exec for review and submission
  • Assist with the complete payroll process in terms of compliance, meeting deadlines and accuracy
  • Work alongside and manage the Payroll Manager to ensure that payroll reports are quality checked
  • Provide commentary on reports explaining the variances and ensure payroll is accurate for submission to Finance team for final check
  • Ensure all HR input is intact with the correct approvals for processing
  • Ensure that all operational managers meet payroll deadlines for submissions
  • Ensuring that all employee files are up to date and filed electronically by team
  • Ensure HR Dashboard is up to date and submitted timeously
  • Ensure PAPE shareholder reporting is accurate and done timeously   
  • Complete reports monthly
  • Receive complaints from managers, draft warnings and send back to managers
  • Drafting of charge sheets for serious offenses
  • Arranging of the disciplinary enquiries with GEO (Employers organisation), inserting the dates into the charge sheets and sending the charge sheets to the line managers to issue
  • Receiving outcomes from GEO and drafting of the appropriate sanction and issuing to management. Receiving signed copy back and record on employee's file
  • Being the contact point for the bargaining council to send all matters to. Arrange and attend to pre-arbs if necessary. Ensure all witnesses / employer representatives are prepared and attend cases and attend cases with employer's organisation at the council if necessary.
  • Facilitate counselling sessions and junior grievance hearings.
  • Giving IR advice to managers on an ad hoc basis. · Ensure that IR registers are maintained · Provide advice, assistance and guidance for managers re employee challenges · Assist with liaising with unions and dealing with a challenging IR and union environment.
  • Drive the BBBEE process by reviewing the BBBEE budget and plans with the HR Exec at the beginning of the year
  • Assist with the data for interim calculations (performed by the HR Exec) on Management Control, Employment Equity and Skills to ensure that the 
  • Manage audit submission with the BBBEE auditor to ensure that the Level 2 scorecard is maintained
  • Ensure that learning and development initiatives and initiated and rolled in the business 
  • Ensure that WSP and ATR are submitted timeously within the department and that training needs and plans are aligned with BBBEE strategy
  • Build trusting relationships with the executive and management of the business 
  • Ensure that performance management is implemented throughout the business 
  • Function as an objective partner to the management team with regards to organisational issues that impact people, including organisational structure and managing change 
  • Develop and improve HR practices, policies and processes 
  • Update the induction programme for new joiners and implement 
  • Drafting employment contracts 
  • Assisting with recruitment

Qualifications and experience:

  • Matric
  • Degree in HRM / Industrial Psychology 
  • Must have at least 5 to 7 years' experience in a similar role 
  • Must have worked for an organisation where there were over 800+ employees
