About the job Financial Manager

Job purpose:

To ensure an efficiently run finance department based on ITSM best practice, by providing financial reports and interpreting financial information, recommending courses of action, maintaining the financial health of the organisation, creating financial awareness, identifying trends, improving financial efficiency driven by highest levels of customer service, communication and teamwork.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Managing the organisations finance function, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, compliance and analysis
  • Prepare and present management accounts on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Oversee annual audits and maintain effective communication with external auditors
  • Manage, review, liaise, payment and ensuring compliance for VAT, income tax and statutory obligations
  • Review payroll monthly prior to payment
  • Provide leadership and supervision of accounting team
  • Optimize cash flow and financial resources to support business operations
  • Ownership of asset control and fixed asset accounting
  • Ownership of financial statements
  • Ensure financial governance through the implementation of control measures (including systems and processes) and checks within each department to mitigate any financial risks to the business.
  • Maintaining the financial health of the organisation
  • Conduct financial analysis, provide insights to CEO and identify areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with teams to develop departmental budges, forecasts and financial plans
  • Analysis and interpretation of actual vs budget and actual vs prior years
  • Analyse cost, pricing, variable contributions, sales results and the companys actual performance
  • Develop trends and projects for finances
  • Preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Preparation of department budget vs actual reports
  • Assistance to accountant for the general ledger through to trial balance
  • Analysis of variances and work with operations management to spot trends and improve the company financial performance
  • Manage bank covenants
  • Analysis of customer profitability, sales by product and user analysis
  • Compiles reports as requested
  • Identifying and build reports which adds value to the business
  • Recommend ways of saving costs
  • Understand the business and the impact this would have on the management of accounts
  • Provide relevant support and decision-making information to other functions within the business in order to optimise those functions

Minimum requirements:

  • Bcom/BAcc Finance/Accounting degree
  • Professional qualification as a CA (SA)
  • Experience within tech or hosting environment an advantage
  • Preference for candidates who have used Microsoft Navision and PowerBI
  • 3-7 years experience as a financial accountant
  • Knowledge of SA tax
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles
