HR Manager - Malawi

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic HR Leadership
  • Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with The Companys business objectives in Malawi and Zimbabwe.
  • Provide strategic HR guidance to senior management, supporting organizational development and transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure consistency in HR policies, practices, and culture across both countries.
2. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
  • Lead end-to-end recruitment for all staff levels across both Malawi and Zimbabwe.
  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure effective, timely, and compliant hiring processes.
  • Build and maintain a strong talent pipeline to meet current and future organizational needs.
3. Employee Relations & Engagement
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment.
  • Address employee concerns, manage conflict resolution, and ensure fair treatment practices.
  • Conduct employee engagement surveys and develop action plans to drive satisfaction and retention.
  • Promote and reinforce company values and culture across all teams.
4. Learning & Development
  • Design and implement training and development programs to enhance employee performance, leadership, and growth.
  • Partner with managers to identify skill gaps and develop targeted learning initiatives.
  • Drive leadership development and succession planning efforts.
5. Performance Management
  • Lead and manage the performance management process, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Support line managers with performance coaching and improvement plans.
  • Align employee performance with business objectives and drive a culture of accountability and excellence.
6. Compensation & Benefits
  • Manage and review compensation and benefits programs to ensure competitiveness and equity across Malawi and Zimbabwe.
  • Benchmark salary structures against market standards to ensure alignment.
  • Ensure programs comply with local labor laws and internal policies.
7. Legal Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure full compliance with employment legislation, labor laws, and regulatory requirements in both Malawi and Zimbabwe.
  • Stay informed on changes in employment law and HR best practices, and update company policies accordingly.
  • Mitigate risks through sound HR governance and audit-ready documentation.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
    (Masters degree or HR certification is a plus.)
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR management experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong HR experience in Malawi and Zimbabwe or similar regional roles is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in multinational or cross-cultural environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law compliance, performance management, employee relations, and talent development.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement HR systems and manage processes effectively.
