Role Description
Brief summary of the role:
The Structural Engineer is responsible for structural design, project delivery, client coordination, and mentorship of junior staff. This role plays a key part in technical leadership within the structural engineering unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare structural designs for building and water-retaining structures
- Conduct condition assessments and structural inspections
- Lead and manage junior engineers and draftspersons
- Engage directly with clients and consultants
- Oversee project timelines, quality control, and deliverables
- Support tender documentation and technical reporting
- Ensure compliance with local and international design codes
Reporting Line:
- Business Unit Manager
- Candidate Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- BSc. or BEng. Civil Engineering
Professional Registration(s):
- ECSA PrEng. Registered (Compulsory)
Years of Relevant Experience:
- Minimum 5 years post-registration
Preferred Project Experience:
- Buildings, reservoirs, tanks, commercial and public infrastructure
Technical Skills / Software Required:
- Prokon, AutoCAD, Revit (preferred), MS Office
- Structural design and analysis tools
Soft Skills or Cultural Fit Qualities:
- Team player with strong communication skills
- Must be fluent in Afrikaans and English
- Independent, detail-oriented, and quality-focused
