Qualifications:
  • Newly or nearly qualified actuary
Experience:
  • More than 5 years in similar environments (actuarial life experience in product or suitable commercial roles)
Responsibilities:
  • Lead strategic simple solutions projects with structured execution plans, managing personal and team outputs.
  • Act as a senior team member in developing or enhancing simple life solutions.
  • Analyze profitability and commercial contribution to the Simple Life Solutions Commercial unit.
  • Use stakeholder inputs to assess:
    • Market trends
    • Customer needs
    • Channel needs
    • Regulatory requirements
    • Competitor insights
    • Gaps/issues in current solutions
    • New product opportunities
  • Develop and maintain technical product artefacts, including:
    • Product specifications
    • Policy document specs
    • Customer communication content
    • Technical marketing content
  • Collaborate with technology teams to ensure correct and efficient implementation of solutions.
  • Use management information and data to monitor solution performance and support recommendations.
  • Support commercial and first-line risk management.
  • Assess pricing strategy and risk levers, including:
    • Mortality
    • Morbidity
    • Lapse
    • Operational risk
    • Market risk
    • Other broader risks
  • Incorporate risk mitigation through:
    • Product design
    • Pricing (with pricing SMEs)
    • Underwriting and claims rules
    • Reinsurance design
    • Collaboration with functional areas and stakeholders (aligned with IAM and SARLSA operating model)
  • Ensure:
    • Commercial optimization
    • Intuitive customer journeys
    • Strategic alignment
    • Adequate risk controls
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Internal policies and standards
    • Relevant governance for approvals, specs, and solution artefacts
  • Prepare and present reports or support reporting to governance/management forums.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams for strategic solution development.
