CONTROL ROOM OPERATOR

A leading security and risk management organisation is seeking a vigilant and professional Control Room Operator to support security operations, incident monitoring, and control room activities within a high-pressure operational environment.

This role is ideal for an individual with strong CCTV monitoring experience, incident management capability, and the ability to remain calm and composed while managing security-related events and operational communications.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in protecting people, resources, assets, and operations through proactive monitoring, incident response coordination, and security systems management.

THE ROLE

You will be responsible for monitoring CCTV and electronic security systems, responding to incidents, coordinating security responses, and ensuring compliance with company policies and security procedures.

The role combines CCTV monitoring, access control, incident reporting, communication coordination, operational monitoring, and security compliance within a control room environment.

CONTROL ROOM OPERATIONS & MONITORING

• Monitoring CCTV and electronic security systems to identify incidents, suspicious activity, and operational deviations
• Conducting camera functionality checks and ensuring all systems are operational and recording correctly
• Reviewing footage integrity and reporting system malfunctions or discrepancies promptly
• Monitoring perimeter and site intrusions, unauthorised access, and safety violations
• Supporting operational and production monitoring through surveillance systems

INCIDENT RESPONSE & REPORTING

• Responding to incident conditions and escalating issues appropriately
• Coordinating response personnel and communicating incident updates effectively
• Capturing and securing CCTV footage and incident evidence where required
• Maintaining occurrence books, incident logs, and security reports accurately
• Reporting security breaches, suspicious behaviour, and equipment failures immediately

ACCESS CONTROL & SECURITY ADMINISTRATION

• Managing access control processes in line with company procedures
• Managing keys and controlled equipment according to policy requirements
• Monitoring and auditing access control points to ensure service quality and compliance
• Restricting access to CCTV footage and ensuring authorised handling of recorded material

COMMUNICATION & COORDINATION

• Handling incoming calls, radio communications, and operational messages professionally
• Communicating calmly and effectively during incidents and emergencies
• Coordinating with operational teams, technical support, and management
• Supporting frontline communication and control room operational activities

COMPLIANCE, AUDIT & DATA PROTECTION

• Ensuring compliance with security procedures, privacy legislation, and operational standards
• Participating in audits and maintaining operational compliance within the control room
• Ensuring secure handling and storage of CCTV footage and security information
• Supporting data retention and evidential integrity requirements

TECHNICAL SUPPORT & SYSTEM MAINTENANCE

• Conducting regular CCTV and system checks
• Reporting equipment faults and coordinating maintenance requirements
• Supporting technical troubleshooting and operational continuity
• Ensuring system uptime and operational readiness

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 / Matric
• PSIRA Grade B certification
• Previous experience in a control room or security monitoring role preferred
• Familiarity with CCTV systems and related software
• Strong attention to detail and observation skills
• Excellent communication and reporting capability
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
