ELECTRICAL FOREMAN
Purpose of the position:
To manage a team of Electrical Artisans to ensure the availability of converting machines and equipment to produce products safely and to the required specification. This role must manage the execution of preventative maintenance activities to maintain or improve the electrical reliability of all machines and equipment. To ensure electrical equipment and installations comply with the OHS Act and related regulations.
Main Responibilities:
- Ensure that 24-hour operations are achieved by attending to priority equipment repairs and preventative maintenance activities.
- Ensure sufficient support is available to attend to major breakdown repairs.
- Ensure all maintenance work is executed in a safe and efficient manner.
- Improve on all maintenance activities that are performed by re-instating industry quality standards of work to significantly reduce rework and abnormal downtime.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and repetitive breakdowns and agree on corrective action with the Site Engineer.
- Ensure spare part availability by liaising with engineering stores, external suppliers and service providers.
- Play an active part in actioning and managing the factory's electrical equipment risk profile
- Play an active role in processes aimed at maximising equipment reliability & reducing the cost of maintenance.
- Ensure that work performed by external service providers is executed to the agreed standard, and execution on site is performed in compliance with The Group's safety requirements.
- Actively drive and support all Company's programs, e.g. Safety, Health and Risk, Asset Management, Vision and Values, ISO 9001 & 14001 programs and procurement processes.
- Align and adhere to agreed KPI's.
- Continuously coach and develop the team's critical skills to improve electrical team performance.
- Improve and develop work Instructions for routine maintenance work to address equipment reliability issues.
- Manage team discipline, time and attendance effectively.
Education and Requirements
- Grade 12
- N4 or Diploma in Electrical Engineering
- Recognised and relevant Trade (a must)
- Have a minimum of 7 years of FMCG plant electrical maintenance, preferably in a continuous manufacturing process environment with training & practical experience in the principles of preventive maintenance and effective faultfinding.
- Basic mechanical knowledge will be an added advantage
- Five (5) years of supervisory experience will be an advantage
- Knowledge of all the legal requirements of the OHS Act, BCEA, LRA and other legal requirements
