Corporate & Commercial Lawyer (NQ–3 years PQE)
A busy corporate department is seeking a corporate and commercial lawyer to provide, and assist senior fee earners in providing, a wide range of legal advice to a mixture of international and local business clients. The role carries a particular focus on general corporate, banking, regulatory, funds and M&A work.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing or assisting senior fee earners with a broad range of corporate and commercial legal advice, with a particular focus on general corporate, banking, regulatory, funds and M&A work, to international and local business clients.
- Working with a degree of autonomy (under supervision as required) on complex legal matters, while also working collegiately as part of a team with other senior lawyers.
- Developing their own legal knowledge and caseload, communicating effectively, and building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Engaging in business development activities to win work from both existing and new clients.
- Contributing to the ongoing development of the Corporate practice area's precedent database and procedures.
- Keeping up to date with legal knowledge and practice, undertaking research and attending events as part of continuing professional development.
Key Professional and Personal Characteristics
- Qualified to practise in the UK or a similar Commonwealth jurisdiction.
- Newly qualified or up to 3 years PQE, with experience in a corporate department and a willingness to work across a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial matters.
- Some commercial property law knowledge would be advantageous, though it is not essential.
- A hands-on approach, with the ability to take responsibility for their own caseload (with appropriate supervision).
- An analytical and solution-driven approach to problem solving.
- The ability to identify key issues and to draft clearly and concisely on complex legal matters.
- The ability to be proactive and to manage a varied caseload simultaneously and efficiently, making good use of time and resources.
- Excellent oral, written, organisational, decision-making and time management skills.
