About the role

The Finance assistant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activities. This role requires coordination with the bank for timely payments, handling reconciliations, assisting with audits, and ensuring accurate financial statement issuance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting regulations in the Japanese Market and excellent communication skills in both English and Japanese.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Bank Account Management: All day to day

    management of Japanese banking books and online banking, including all payments and receipts
  • Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate financial records, including invoices, receipts, and transactions.
  • Data Entry: Input financial data into accounting software and ensure the accuracy of financial documents.

  • Assisting with Reporting: Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including processing payments and issuing invoices.
  • Royalties Management: Assist in tracking and calculating royalties due to authors, creators, or other stakeholders, ensuring timely payments.
  • Commercial Tax Compliance: Support the preparation and filing of commercial tax returns, ensuring compliance with local tax regulations.
  • Budgeting Support: Assist in the budgeting process by gathering data and monitoring expenditures.
  • Reconciliation: Perform bank reconciliations and ensure all financial discrepancies are resolved.
  • Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with local financial regulations and standards, including those related to royalties and taxation.
  • Communication: Liaise with other departments to gather financial information and respond to inquiries.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the finance team when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant and recognised qualification in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Extensive experience of Japanese banking systems including online banking management

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles, royalties, and tax regulations.

  • Ability to communicate fluently in Japanese and English (depending on the companys requirements).

Location: Osaka, Japan, with the ability to work onsite at Pavilion

Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week in line with Japanese labour laws
