Role Summary

To successfully lead the asset development team and manage the effective development and delivery of the Foundations Assets in close coordination with the wider Foundation team and with the developer.

The Foundation has a number of planned assets in development that will each celebrate an element of the legacy. The assets are either at concept stage or early design stage.

Accountabilities

  • Leadership: Effectively lead, manage and inspire the cultural assets management team. Additionally, align and influence lateral teams within the same department.
  • Team Management: Recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers involved in cultural asset development and management. Foster a collaborative and creative work environment.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the organization's cultural assets, aligning it with the organization's overall mission and goals.
  • Project Oversight: Establish and manage effective coordination and communication with the developer of the capital projects
  • Project Development: Ensure the effective strategic development of new capital assets (buildings and exhibitions) in terms of alignment of the designs with the project vision and Foundation vision and goals
  • Collaborative Project Management: Collaborate at a portfolio level with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, designers, curators, project managers, and contractors, to ensure successful project delivery
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely at a portfolio level with stakeholders, including the Foundation leadership, local authorities, and cultural experts, to ensure alignment with project portfolio objectives
  • Content and research coordination: Coordinate with the relevant Foundation teams to ensure effective management and coordination of research and content development strategies to input into each asset design process
  • Resource Management (delivery): Allocate resources, including personnel, materials, and technology, effectively across multiple projects
  • Resource Management (operational): Manage the organization's cultural assets, including art collections, programming and any other relevant culture asset assigned to the project. Oversee budgeting, funding, and resource allocation for cultural asset development and maintenance.
  • Budget Management: Develop annual department operational budget and report on project financial performance to senior management.
  • Asset operational planning: at a portfolio level, develop a strategic approach to operational and business planning for the assets including but not limited to operational modelling, resourcing, training, budget and business planning
  • Evaluation and Reporting: Monitor and evaluate the impact of cultural asset development initiatives. Prepare regular reports and presentations for organizational leadership and stakeholders.
  • Fundraising and Grants: Identify and pursue funding opportunities, grants, and sponsorships to support cultural asset development. Cultivate relationships with donors and philanthropic organizations.

Educational Qualifications

  • MA in Museum Studies, Cultural Studies, Architecture, Design

Experience

  • Essential: capital projects development, cultural sector project management, cultural assets operational experience
  • Desirable: architecture, engineering, project management; experience working in the GCC / KSA
