Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Veterinarian (DVM) to join a growing, modern small-animal veterinary hospital in the Greater Boston area. This role combines advanced clinical practice with leadership responsibility and offers a clear pathway toward Medical Director / Director of Operations as the hospital expands to 7-day operations.

You will provide high-quality medical and surgical care for companion animals (primarily dogs and cats) while helping lead clinical standards, mentor veterinarians, and collaborate with hospital and regional leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries in dogs and cats through medical and surgical care
  • Perform routine surgeries, soft-tissue procedures, and dental treatments
  • Conduct wellness exams, vaccinations, and preventive care counseling
  • Communicate treatment plans clearly with pet owners and referring veterinarians
  • Support hospital leadership in maintaining clinical quality and workflow efficiency
  • Mentor associate veterinarians and support staff development
  • Help prepare the hospital for expanded hours and growing caseload
  • Participate in continuing education and clinical skill advancement

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • 5+ years of clinical experience in a small-animal veterinary hospital
  • Strong proficiency in medical diagnosis, surgery, and dentistry
  • Experience working with dogs and cats in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with veterinary and operations teams
  • Eligible to obtain or currently hold a Connecticut State Veterinary License (required)
  • Must meet state licensing and credentialing requirements

Preferred Experience

  • Prior leadership experience (Senior Veterinarian, Medical Director, or Lead DVM)
  • Experience in multi-doctor, corporate, or multi-site veterinary practices
  • Background in practice growth, team building, or operational expansion
  • Experience collaborating with referring veterinarians or specialty partners
