About the Role
We are seeking a Medical Director / Psychiatrist to provide expert psychiatric care and clinical leadership for our behavioral health services in Detroit/Wayne County. This role involves both in-person and telehealth services for clients across all ages, including those with mild to severe behavioral health needs and substance use disorders.
As a 1099 contractor, you will lead clinical consultations, oversee psychiatric services, and guide multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality care and regulatory compliance. This is a hands-on position requiring flexibility, cultural competence, and a commitment to serving diverse populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, medication reviews, and documentation.
- Prescribe and monitor medications; review lab results as needed.
- Provide consultation and oversight to clinical staff across disciplines.
- Participate in Behavior Treatment Committee meetings; approve behavior plans.
- Assist in developing policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide in-service training for clinicians and participate in staff recruitment and supervision.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and participate in audits.
Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O. with a valid Michigan license.
- Board-certified in psychiatry; child psychiatry certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with both child and adult populations.
- Experience with substance use and dual diagnosis clients.
- Knowledge of the Detroit/Wayne County Community Mental Health System is preferred.
- Trauma-informed and culturally competent.
- Comfortable with telehealth platforms and EMR systems (Doxxy, Zoom, Teams, Peter Chang Enterprises software).
- Valid driver's license / reliable transportation.
- Must maintain malpractice insurance.
