About the job Press Tech Production Supervisor
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Press Tech Production Supervisor to lead our stamping operations team on the 1st shift in Ripon, WI. This hands-on leadership role is key to driving efficiency, productivity, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will foster a safety-first culture, apply tool and die expertise, and implement lean manufacturing principles to optimize processes and drive operational excellence.
This position operates Monday through Thursday, 5:00 am to 3:00 pm, with occasional overtime on Fridays. Flexibility to adjust shift schedules and support all shifts as needed is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
- Optimize stamping production processes to meet company standards and customer requirements.
- Apply tool and die knowledge to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to enhance existing dies and equipment.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Foster a culture of servant leadership, coaching, and mentoring team members to achieve peak performance.
- Lead by example, promoting professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct team meetings and one-on-one sessions to provide feedback, set goals, and encourage career growth.
Process Optimization & Lean Manufacturing:
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Lead SMED initiatives to shorten die changeover times and streamline production processes.
- Monitor production metrics to support data-driven decisions and continuous improvement efforts.
Preventative Maintenance & Equipment Management:
- Develop and oversee a preventative maintenance program for stamping equipment and tooling.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure adherence to maintenance schedules and prevent unplanned downtime.
Operational Excellence & Safety:
- Promote compliance with safety standards and foster a safe working environment.
- Drive efficiency and reduce waste by implementing best practices across all production processes.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work cross-functionally with safety, quality, tool room, and maintenance teams to streamline operations.
- Serve as a point of contact for employees on operational and employee relations matters.
- Coordinate with Union Stewards regarding contract and discipline issues.
Project Management:
- Lead projects from concept to implementation, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality goals are met.
- Allocate resources, coordinate teams, and manage project plans effectively.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in stamping or manufacturing environments, with leadership and process optimization experience.
- Strong press and metal stamping background.
- Expertise in tool and die principles.
- Proven experience implementing process optimization, including SMED.
- Demonstrated servant leadership with high-performing teams.
Preferred:
- 1-3 years of experience in medium/high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing.
- Hands-on SMED experience.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to lead and mentor teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Flexible availability to support multiple shifts as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stoop, bend, stand for long periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
