Salary: From $130,000 base + production bonus + up to $100,000 sign-on bonus + relocation assistance (if applicable)
Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Associate Veterinarian (DVM) to join an AAHA-accredited, modern small animal hospital in Fairfield, CT. This is a collaborative, fast-paced clinical environment focused on high-quality medicine, preventive care, surgery, and dentistry for companion animals (primarily dogs and cats).
You will work alongside an experienced veterinary team using advanced diagnostic tools and receive strong clinical support, continuing education opportunities, and structured workflows designed to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat medical conditions and injuries in small animals
- Perform routine surgeries, soft tissue procedures, and dental extractions
- Conduct physical exams, vaccinations, and preventive care consultations
- Develop and manage individualized treatment plans
- Communicate clearly with pet owners regarding diagnosis and care options
- Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, and referring clinics
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure high clinical standards
- Participate in continuing education and clinical development
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution
- Eligible for or currently holding a Connecticut State Veterinary License
- Strong foundation in small animal medicine, diagnostics, and surgery
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented veterinary hospital
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of clinical experience in small animal practice (preferred)
- AAHA-accredited or high-volume hospital experience
- Internship or structured mentorship training
- Proficiency in dentistry, anesthesia, and soft tissue surgery
- New graduates considered with strong clinical training and intent for long-term growth
