Mitek Truss Designer – Roof & Floor (Residential & Commercial)

Job Title: Truss Designer – Floor & Roof Layouts (Residential, Commercial, Agricultural)

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Truss Designer to create accurate, cost-efficient floor and roof truss layouts for residential, commercial, and agricultural buildings. The ideal candidate is skilled in Mitek software, blueprint reading, and structural engineering principles to deliver designs that meet plan specifications and optimize material use.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design truss layouts using Mitek (or equivalent software) for residential, commercial, and agricultural projects.
• Review blueprints and plan specifications to ensure constructability and cost efficiency.
• Troubleshot design/engineering challenges and provided solutions proactively.
• Optimize material usage and ensure efficient production based on plant capabilities.
• Maintain detailed records, reports, and documentation for all projects.
• Collaborate with sales, manufacturing, shipping, and design teams to resolve issues.
• Occasionally visit job sites to address design concerns.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior designers as needed.

Requirements:

• 1–2+ years of experience designing trusses using Mitek software or similar.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural blueprints.
• Basic CAD drafting skills; proficiency preferred.
• Knowledge of structural engineering principles, load calculations, and TPI codes.
• General knowledge of construction processes and materials.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and math skills.
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.

Nice to Have:

• Prior experience in a truss shop or construction environment.
• 2-year technical degree in drafting, engineering, or a construction-related field.
