Are you a seasoned Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) leader with a track record of managing multi-million-dollar budgets and unionized teams? We are seeking a Director of Facilities Operations to lead the physical plant, grounds, custodial, and construction operations at Hobart and William Smith University.

Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Direct all facilities operations, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, grounds keeping, and custodial services.
- Financial Stewardship: Manage an annual operating budget of up to $9M with a focus on financial controls, forecasting, and value optimization.
- Capital Project Management: Lead complex construction and renovation projects from inception to completion—on time and on budget.
- Relationship Management: Act as the primary liaison for C-suite executives and client-partners; influence technical decision-making and strategic planning.
- Team Development: Supervise a diverse, unionized workforce of skilled trades and frontline staff; oversee hiring, training, and performance management.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience: 5+ years of management experience in Facilities Operations or IFM.
- Leadership: 5+ years of experience leading multi-disciplinary teams (Physical Plant, Custodial, Construction).
- Education: Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent years of relevant experience).
- Budgeting: Proven experience managing multi-million-dollar ($5M+) operating or capital budgets.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in Higher Education or large campus-style institutions (Healthcare, Research Hubs).
- Demonstrated success managing Unionized Workforces.
- Strong technical knowledge of MEP systems (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) and PM programs.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate operational data for executive stakeholders.
