About the job Industrial Sales Representative – Estimator (Coatings & Services)
Job Overview
We are seeking a Sales Estimator to support industrial coatings and facility services projects in the Sheboygan, WI area. This role combines sales, customer account management, and project estimating, with a strong focus on maintaining long-term industrial client relationships while developing new business opportunities.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in both office and industrial plant environments, has strong sales ability, and is eager to learn technical coating systems used in industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow relationships with existing industrial customers (primary focus)
- Conduct cold calls, email outreach, and follow-ups to develop new business opportunities
- Perform job site take-offs, including measurements and project scope assessments
- Determine access methods, surface preparation requirements, and coating systems
- Gather pricing and technical details from vendors
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and project proposals
- Develop job instructions for field crews and coordinate materials/equipment (coatings, lifts, scaffolding, etc.)
- Support marketing efforts including mailers and updated customer lists
- Maintain CRM records using Maximizer
- Prepare proposals using Word and estimating data in Excel
- Follow up with clients after project completion to ensure satisfaction
- Provide occasional phone support and administrative assistance
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Proven sales or cold-calling experience (required)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical coating systems
- Comfortable working in industrial environments (plants, manufacturing facilities)
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Stable work history and demonstrated reliability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to work early schedule (6:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with occasional overtime)
Preferred Experience
- Estimating experience in industrial, construction, or coatings environments
- Account management or long-term customer relationship experience
- Exposure to manufacturing or plant-based operations
Work Environment
- Approximately 70% office / 30% field work
- Roughly 80% account management / 20% new business development
- Industrial customer base including manufacturing and processing plants
- Majority of clients in the food industry, with expansion into other sectors
- Customers typically include mid-to-large organizations ($10M+ revenue) and multi-site operations
