Overview
We are seeking an experienced HACCP Coordinator to lead and strengthen Food Safety and Quality Assurance systems within a ready-to-eat (RTE) food manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for managing the facility's HACCP program, SSOPs, regulatory compliance, internal audits, and food safety training, ensuring full alignment with FSIS regulations and industry best practices.
The HACCP Coordinator plays a hands-on role on the production floor (approximately 25% of the time), working closely with Operations, QA, and FSQS leadership to ensure food safety systems are consistently implemented, verified, and improved.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the facility HACCP program, including CCP monitoring, verification, documentation, and annual reassessments
- Ensure compliance with FSIS regulations, directives, and notices, and support regulatory inspections
- Conduct daily review of HACCP, SSOP, and sanitation program records; ensure corrective and preventive actions are completed
- Lead internal HACCP audits and support third-party and regulatory audits (including FSIS inspections)
- Track, investigate, and report critical limit deviations, missed checks, and documentation errors
- Develop, deliver, and maintain food safety and HACCP training programs for supervisors and plant associates across all shifts
- Implement and oversee environmental microbiological monitoring programs
- Support mock recall/stock recovery exercises and continuous improvement initiatives
- Prepare monthly food safety performance summaries for management and external stakeholders
- Maintain accurate documentation systems and ensure timely filing of all FSQS records (HACCP, SSOP, SPS)
- Spend regular time on the production floor verifying the execution of food safety systems
- Support FSQS leadership with regulatory readiness, audits, and operational coverage as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Food Safety within a food manufacturing environment
- Strong, hands-on experience in HACCP and SSOP systems implementation and maintenance
- Background in ready-to-eat (RTE) food manufacturing (required)
- Proven experience with FSIS regulatory compliance, audits, and inspections
- Experience conducting or supporting internal, third-party, and regulatory audits
- Ability to interpret regulatory documents (FSIS directives, notices, and compliance requirements)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated ability to work in both office and production floor environments
- HACCP Alliance Basic and Advanced HACCP certification (required or must be obtainable)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field
- Experience leading food safety training programs in a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with environmental microbiology monitoring systems and corrective action programs
- Experience supporting mock recall or traceability exercises
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and process improvement skills
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary up to $80,000–$90,000 (depending on experience)
- Annual bonus target: 8–10% (typically paid before year-end holidays)
- Relocation assistance up to $5,000 plus temporary housing (up to 30 days) for qualified candidates
