Job Title: Diesel Mechanic (2nd Shift – Fleet Maintenance)

Location: Medora, IN (Onsite)
Shift: 2:00 PM – 12:00 AM (2nd Shift)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join a fleet maintenance team in Medora, IN. This role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty diesel trucks and fleet vehicles to ensure safe and reliable operations. Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with heavy truck systems, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced shop environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service on diesel fleet vehicles (based on DVIRs and maintenance schedules)
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in heavy-duty trucks
  • Service and repair systems including brakes, air systems, engines, fluids, filters, and electrical components
  • Interpret repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics for troubleshooting
  • Complete accurate service documentation (work orders, parts usage, and maintenance logs)
  • Conduct inspections, test drives, and roadside/field repairs when required
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment following all safety standards

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of Diesel Mechanic experience (heavy trucks/fleet preferred)
  • Strong experience with diesel engine repair and heavy-duty truck systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Must own required mechanic tools
  • Ability to perform accurate documentation (paper and electronic systems)
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and team communication

Certifications & Compliance

  • DOT Medical Certification required prior to start (must obtain before employment begins)

Preferred Background

  • Fleet maintenance, trucking, bus, municipal fleet, heavy construction, or agricultural diesel equipment experience
  • Experience with DVIR-based maintenance and roadside repair work

Work Environment & Location

  • Onsite role in Medora, Indiana
  • 2nd shift schedule (evening/night work required)
  • No relocation assistance available; candidates should be within reasonable commuting distance (Jackson County and surrounding areas preferred)
