Fire Protection Designer (Senior or Junior) – Special Hazard Systems | AutoCAD | Fire Alarm & Suppression

We are seeking a Fire Protection Designer (Senior or Junior level) to design advanced special hazard fire suppression and fire alarm systems. This role is ideal for professionals experienced in fire protection engineering and design—not general sprinkler-only designers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design life safety and asset protection systems using AutoCAD (2D & 3D) and proprietary software
• Develop special hazard fire suppression and fire alarm system designs per local, national, and manufacturer codes
• Review project specifications and ensure accurate design implementation
• Conduct site surveys to verify system design and installation accuracy
• Guide contractors on the proper installation, testing, and operation of systems
• Update engineering drawings and prepare operation & maintenance manuals
• Support system commissioning, startups, inspections, and maintenance (as needed)
• Participate in manufacturer training and ongoing professional development
• Assist engineering/office teams with technical tasks and process improvements

Qualifications:

• Experience in the fire protection industry (required)
• Background in fire protection system design engineering
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D drafting and working knowledge of 3D design tools
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Willingness to learn industry standards and pursue NICET certification

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
• NICET Certification (or in progress)
