Job Overview
We are hiring a Director of Facilities Operations (IFM) to lead campus facilities management at a large college in Paul Smiths, NY. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both executive-level decision-making and active field involvement, including expert snow management and commercial snow plow operation.
You will oversee all campus operations, manage union staff, lead capital projects, and ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective facility performance across a large multi-building campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) for a 50+ building campus
- Oversee HVAC, electrical, plumbing, custodial, grounds, and maintenance operations
- Perform and oversee snow removal operations (including snow plow driving)
- Manage capital projects, budgets ($1M+), vendors, and subcontractors
- Supervise and mentor ~25 union employees through the management staff
- Conduct hiring, staffing, training, and workforce planning
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards
- Maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Support campus events and operational logistics
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years of Facilities Director / IFM leadership experience in a campus environment
- Strong experience managing unionized workforces
- Proven expertise in snow management and winter operations
- Experience with multi-site or large campus operations (grounds, maintenance, custodial, engineering)
- Strong financial management and capital project oversight ($1M+ budgets)
- Vendor and subcontractor management experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $110,000 – $130,000 base
- Annual Incentive Bonus
