Civil Construction Estimator – Heavy Highway (On-Site)
Location: Louisiana
Salary: $100,000–$120,000 DOE + Discretionary Bonus
Schedule: Full-Time | On-Site (Pet-Friendly Office)
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Civil Construction Estimator to join our growing Project Management Team. This role is ideal for a seasoned estimator with a strong background in Heavy Highway and Civil Construction, including concrete paving, site work, and underground utilities. You will play a key role in preparing accurate, competitive bids for state and federally funded projects across Louisiana.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy highway and civil construction projects
- Perform quantity take-offs from construction drawings and specifications
- Review plans, scopes of work, and Louisiana state & federal bid requirements
- Solicit and analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes
- Develop full estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead
- Support bid strategy and assist leadership with go/no-go decisions
- Collaborate with Project Managers on project financial planning and execution
- Maintain estimating databases, vendor lists, and cost history
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 10+ years of Heavy Highway Construction estimation experience
- Strong background in concrete paving, site work, underground utilities, drainage, sewer & water
- Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid and Primavera P6
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD for plan review and take-offs
- Excellent contract interpretation and plan reading skills
- Strong communication, leadership, and team collaboration abilities
- Stable work history and in-office availability (5 days/week)
Preferred Experience
- Field experience in civil or highway construction
- Established relationships with Louisiana subcontractors and suppliers
- Experience bidding DOTD and municipal projects
