About the job Structural Engineering Manager - Transportation/Bridge
Our Lexington office is seeking a highly experienced Structural Section Head to lead the structural engineering department. This senior-level role is responsible for driving business development, managing departmental staff, ensuring financial success, and maintaining technical excellence. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering innovative structural solutions for bridges and other horizontal structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic growth plans in collaboration with office managers and practice leaders
- Establish and expand the companys market presence through marketing initiatives and business development activities
- Manage the departmental budget and allocate resources effectively
- Lead proposal production and contribute to high-quality project deliverables
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor for project managers and engineering staff
- Determine staffing needs and lead the hiring process for the section
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing leadership, coaching, and development to team members
- Support team growth by setting expectations, providing feedback, and fostering professional development
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited program
- Professional Engineer license
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in bridge or horizontal structural engineering
- Proven project management and business development experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with county and state-level clients
- Supervisory and team leadership experience
Work Environment:
Work is performed primarily in an office setting. The role is mostly sedentary but may involve occasional standing or walking. The office environment is well-lit and comfortable, without hazardous conditions.
