Overview
We are seeking a Civil Engineer with hands-on municipal water and wastewater design experience to join a long-established civil engineering and infrastructure firm supporting complex public works projects. This role focuses on the design and delivery of water, wastewater, and utility infrastructure systems, with opportunities to grow into project management and client-facing responsibilities over time.
You will contribute to projects involving pump stations, treatment plants, distribution and collection systems, drainage, and site utilities, supporting a portfolio tied to significant active construction and long-term municipal infrastructure programs.
This is a strong growth opportunity for an engineer who wants to move beyond production design into full project ownership and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and produce civil engineering design drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Design municipal water and wastewater infrastructure systems, including:
- Pump stations
- Treatment plants
- Water distribution and wastewater collection systems
- Drainage and utility layouts
- Prepare construction-ready drawing packages and technical documentation
- Support senior engineers in project execution, design coordination, and delivery schedules
- Participate in client meetings, site visits, and field evaluations as experience grows
- Troubleshoot design and field issues during construction phases
- Contribute to planning, conceptual design, and infrastructure optimization
- Progress toward independently managing small-to-mid scale municipal projects
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field (required)
- 5–7 years of relevant civil engineering experience (municipal water/wastewater strongly preferred)
- Active EIT certification required (PE preferred or actively pursuing)
- Strong, hands-on experience in municipal water and/or wastewater design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for production-level design work
- Experience producing construction documents and civil plan sets
- Ability to work independently at workstation and deliver high-quality design outputs
Preferred Experience
- Experience in water/wastewater consulting, municipal utilities, or civil infrastructure firms
- Exposure to construction support, field engineering, or inspections
- Experience transitioning from design-focused roles into project management responsibilities
- Texas PE license or eligibility for Texas PE licensure
- Background in civil/site development with significant utility design exposure
