Senior Survey Manager / Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) – DOT & Municipal Projects

Location: Virginia (Office-Based with Field Oversight)
Salary: $85,000–$145,000 + Bonus + ESOP

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Survey Manager / Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to lead land surveying operations for civil, transportation, DOT, and municipal projects. This leadership role oversees multiple field crews, ensures high-quality project delivery, and supports business growth within a stable, employee-owned engineering firm offering top-tier benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise multiple survey field crews and office technicians
• Oversee DOT and municipal roadway, utility, and transportation surveys
• Ensure QA/QC, project schedules, budgets, and client satisfaction
• Coordinate with VDOT and local municipalities
• Support proposals, client development, and regional growth
• Mentor and develop staff through coaching and performance planning

Required Qualifications

• Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license
• 12+ years of land surveying experience, including 5+ years in management
• Strong background in DOT and municipal civil projects
• Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation / OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D
• In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local surveying regulations
• High school diploma required; Bachelor's in Surveying or Civil Engineering preferred

Preferred Skills

• Subsurface utility locating (SUE)
• LiDAR, aerial mapping, or sUAS (drone) experience

Compensation & Benefits
