The Walker Area Community Foundation seeks a dedicated and reliable professional to lead and advance the work of the Health Action Partnership and the Healing Network of Walker County. These coalitions are essential to improving health outcomes and fostering well-being in our community.

About the Initiatives:

Health Action Partnership
Founded in 2013, this collaborative initiative unites agencies, organizations, and individuals committed to building a "Culture of Health" in Walker County. Its key focus areas include Coordinated Care, Livable Communities, and Behavioral Health.

Healing Network of Walker County
As part of the Behavioral Health priority area of the Health Action Partnership, this network of 60+ organizations works collectively to establish a comprehensive system of prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery resources for substance use and mental health disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

Coalition Leadership & Coordination

  • Serve as the primary contact for the Health Action Partnership and the Healing Network of Walker County.
  • Work closely with the Foundations executive leadership, the Health Action Partnership Leadership Team, and the Healing Network Steering Committee.
  • Convene leaders to coordinate efforts and expand resources, capacity, and access to community health challenges.
  • Host and facilitate meetings, including:
    • Bi-annual Health Action Partnership meetings

    • Quarterly Healing Network meetings (all partners)

    • Quarterly Healing Network Steering Committee meetings

  • Monitor and track progress on collective community health goals.


Community Health & Resource Development

  • Promote community health education and improve access to resources and services.
  • Evaluate and report on priorities and gaps using national and local data.
  • Review funding requests to ensure alignment with collective health goals.
  • Support initiatives to expand counseling and mental health resources, especially for youth.
  • Support and strengthen school-based mental health services and support the development of coping and parenting skills programs.


Community Engagement & Infrastructure

  • Support the development of community amenities, recreational opportunities, and after-school programs.
  • Identify youth resource and programming needs

  • Inventory existing after-school and summer programs.

  • Research best practices for improving community infrastructure and amenities.
  • Address healthcare workforce shortages and provider accessibility.

  • Engage in community discussions, fostering collaboration across diverse viewpoints.


Qualifications

Travel Requirements

  • Reliable transportation is needed for this role.

  • Valid Drivers License and a clean driving record are required

  • This role requires travel to area communities and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.


Education

  • Bachelors degree required (preferred fields: Public Health, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Addiction & Recovery Studies, Human Development, Child Development, or related areas).


Experience

  • 2-4 years in program implementation, preferably in community health, nonprofits, or government sectors.
  • Experience working in rural communities.
  • Experience assembling a strategic plan and convening different stakeholders in order to progress positive health outcomes (preferably in rural communities).
  • Understanding of the impact of poverty on health outcomes.

  • Compassion for individuals facing substance use and mental health challenges.
  • Experience in public-private partnerships, data-driven decision-making, and grant writing (preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to execute tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow direction from leadership.
  • Ability to remain flexible and work in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and highly responsive to communication throughout the workday
  • Proficient in Windows operating system(s), Microsoft Office Suite applications, Google docs/spreadsheets, project management systems, virtual meeting platforms, and ability to learn new systems
  • Must be able to work weekends and evenings as needed for special events.
