About the job Risk and Compliance Officer
BIOVAC is one of the leading sterile vaccine manufacturers rooted in Africa, with our core purpose being to "protect life". We are looking to hire a dynamic, passionate, confident, proactive and meticulous Risk and Compliance Officer (FTC) to join a goal-oriented team.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
- Degree in Business Commerce or Law or fields related to Business Risk & Compliance
- Recognition is given to Prior Learning and practical experience.
NECESSARY EXPERIENCE & INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE:
- At least 5 years experience in (functional area(s))
- At least 2 years experience at junior to middle management level
- Experience in quality and regulatory compliance within a GMP facility.
- Business and operational planning.
- Program and project management
- Participation in developing a departmental budget and monitoring expenditures for multiple projects & funding sources.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
- Create a risk and compliance culture by identifying weaknesses in systems and processes and proactively embedding governance principles, values and sound business practice into existing systems, products, services and processes.
- Setup and manage Governance frameworks/policies to align the business to governance requirements.
- Develop appropriate policies to supplement and enforce the governance framework.
- Develop and maintain a group risk management framework and strategy.
- Develop and maintain an appropriate interface between risk management and business continuity management.
- Maintenance & reporting on the site risk register as well as individual risk registers with the relevant risk owners.
- Ensuring that significant risks are documented on risk registers, adequate mitigations are captured and monitoring of progress to mitigate risks.
- Develop and maintain a compliance framework policies procedure and plans in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders.
- Development of Anti-money laundering, Anti-bribery and FICA compliance mechanisms at the appropriate levels of the organisation
- Developing robust internal due diligence protocols especially related to strategic companywide projects, as well as third party due diligence protocols as well as ensuring that there is appropriate ongoing oversight and control over such third party providers.
- Ensure that internal controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance of compliance with established company regulatory requirements and that all external regulatory requirements are complied with.
- Develop and maintain business templates for contractual arrangements with customers and suppliers (e.g., Service level agreements, non-disclosure agreements, etc)
- Liaise with legal service providers and provide legal advice and opinions for contractual and related matters.
- Conduct research, when necessary, compile required reports and papers and make legally sound recommendations regarding legal and compliance issues.
- Respond to queries and any investigations from external and internal parties, ascertain where external legal input is required.
- Working withHuman Capitaland analysing ethics best practices for the entire organisation
- In conjunction with Human Capital effectiveness, provide ethics andcompliance trainingto theexecutive team, senior management and other applicable teams in the business
- Assist with developing a progressive training program for all incoming employees
- Continuing ethical oversight of all -related operations
- Provide support where incidents are reported, including assistance in monitoring the actionable items reported
- Manage and oversee the monitoring of non-financial compliance requirements.
- Monitoring of compliance in terms of compliance framework
- Conduct and report on compliance reviews in the business, collate and analyse information from various sources in order to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal compliance controls.
- Assist with the preparation for independent compliance reviews and external audits.
- Analyse complaints (internal and external) for trends and reports findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor developments in all compliance aspects affecting the company and its operations and conduct regular internal compliance monitoring audits.
- Review of all critical business policies from a regulatory compliance perspective and make recommendations for improvement annually.
