About the job Finance Systems Lead

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Financial Information systems, Management Accounting or equivalent.
- Completed Articles
Preferred:
- CA(SA) or CIMA
- Recognition is given to Prior Learning and practical experience.
Experience needed to deliver the role seamlessly:
- 5–8+ years' experience in SAP FI/CO, including at least one full cycle implementation
- Strong understanding of:
- Manufacturing / production costing
- Inventory valuation and integration with PP/MM
- Financial integration across end-to-end business processes
- Experience acting as a business-facing systems owner
- Strong stakeholder engagement and cross functional leadership skills
Preferred:
- SAP S/4HANA Finance experience
- Experience in regulated environments (e.g. pharmaceutical / GMP)
- Power BI implementation and Finance analytics experience
- Exposure to digital finance, automation, and advanced analytics
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
Core Technical Delivery:
Finance Systems Ownership & Governance
- Act as the overall custodian of Finance systems, ensuring system integrity, stability, control, and alignment to Finance and business strategy.
- Define and maintain Finance systems governance, including ownership, change control, prioritisation, and documentation.
- Ensure Finance systems support statutory reporting, management reporting, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance (e.g. GMP where applicable).
- Serve as the key escalation point for Finance system issues, risks, and enhancement decisions.
SAP FI/CO Custodianship
- Be the Finance owner and SME for SAP FI/CO, accountable for the design, configuration, and ongoing optimisation of Finance and Controlling processes.
- Define and champion end‑to‑end Finance business processes within SAP, ensuring best‑practice design and strong integration across modules.
- Own and continuously improve core SAP FI/CO functionalities, including:
- General Ledger
- Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Asset Accounting
- Cost Centre Accounting
- Internal Orders
- Profit Centre Accounting
- Product Costing & Cost Object Controlling
- Actual vs Plan variance analysis
- Allocations and month‑end close processes
- Ensure accurate and robust integration between SAP FI/CO and MM, PP, SD, and other dependent systems.
SAP Business Enablement (MRP, PP/MM, SD)
- Act as the Finance custodian for all SAP-enabled business initiatives, including:
- MRP-driven procurement and inventory processes
- Production Planning (PP) and Manufacturing integration
- Sales & Distribution (SD) financial integration
- Lead the Finance design and validation for:
- Product cost planning and cost estimates
- Production order costing and settlements
- Batch costing and variance analysis
- Inventory valuation and Material Ledger / actual costing
- Define and enforce financial rules, controls, and policies for SAP transactions across the value chain.
- Partner with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Commercial, and IT teams to ensure SAP outputs result in accurate financial reporting and decision support.
Business Insights & Power BI Leadership:
- Lead Finance workstreams for SAP and Business Insights projects, including:
- Fit‑gap analysis and blueprinting
- Business requirements definition and validation
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Data migration for Finance master and transactional data
- Act as Finance sponsor for system enhancements and change requests.
- Develop and deliver training for Finance and business users.
- Provide post‑go‑live support and drive continuous improvement.
Business Partnership & Decision Support
- Act as a trusted Finance Systems partner to:
- Finance leadership
- Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams
- IT and external implementation partners
- Support:
- Business planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- Management reporting and performance tracking
- KPI definition and adherence
- Ensure Finance systems actively support data‑driven decision‑making across the business.
