Devops Engineer

Role Overview:We are looking for a seasoned DevOps contractor to lead the production deployment of SASViya on an Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) cluster. This role will focus onautomating, optimizing, and securing the installation while ensuring seamless integration withour existing infrastructure and DevOps tools. The ideal candidate will have extensive experiencein Kubernetes, AWS, DevOps practices, and a solid understanding of SAS Viya or similarapplications.Key Responsibilities:• Oversee the end-to-end installation, configuration, and optimization of SAS Viya on EKS in aproduction environment.• Implement DevOps best practices to automate deployment, scaling, and management usingCI/CD pipelines (e.g., Bamboo, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD).• Collaborate with platform, security, and infrastructure teams to integrate monitoring(Prometheus, Grafana), logging (Fluentbit, CloudWatch), and alerting solutions.• Harden and secure the Kubernetes environment following AWS and Kubernetes security bestpractices.• Remediate security vulnerabilities identified in SAS Viya container images using tools likeAqua and manage security patches.• Optimize the performance and scalability of the EKS cluster and SAS Viya deployment forproduction workloads.• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) toolslike Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.• Provide troubleshooting and performance tuning expertise for the EKS cluster.• Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with internal DevOps teams to ensure smooth post-deployment operations.Required Skills and Experience:• 5+ years of DevOps experience with strong expertise in Kubernetes and containerorchestration.• Proven experience deploying and managing applications on AWS EKS, including networking,security groups, IAM, and scaling strategies.• Hands-on experience with SAS Viya or similar enterprise applications.• Strong background in CI/CD automation using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD.• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation) to automate AWSresource provisioning.• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Fluentbit, Grafana, andAWS CloudWatch.• Strong understanding of cloud security, container security, and vulnerability management(Aqua, Twistlock, etc.).• Solid knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and VPC.• Experience troubleshooting Kubernetes performance and networking issues.Preferred Qualifications:• AWS certifications (AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, orAWS Certified Kubernetes Administrator) are highly desirable.• Familiarity with GitOps practices and tools like ArgoCD or Flux for continuous delivery.• Experience with DevSecOps practices, integrating security into CI/CD pipelines.• Prior experience in banking & other regulated industries like finance required.Soft Skills:• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, with a focus on automation and optimization.• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.• Ability to work independently and take ownership of the project.
