Work Arrangement: On-Site         Salary: $125,000 – $150,000 per year
Shift: 2nd Shift — 3:00 PM–11:30 PM       Travel: Approximately 5%

BestLogic Staffing is seeking an experienced Weld Engineer to support aerospace manufacturing operations in Windsor Locks, CT.

This position will focus on the manufacturing and restart of legacy heat exchanger products while supporting welding, brazing, machining, sheet metal manufacturing, process development, production troubleshooting, and quality improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on manufacturing engineering experience and a solid understanding of welding processes, GD&T, engineering drawings, production documentation, and aerospace quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the restart and manufacturing of legacy heat exchanger products.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and shop-floor personnel to develop and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Create, modify, and maintain work instructions, operation sheets, and assembly documentation.
  • Develop and update process operation and assembly sheets, preferably using Solumina.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications and apply GD&T requirements to production processes.
  • Support manufacturing activities involving aluminum and steel brazing, welding, machining, and sheet metal processes.
  • Develop, mark up, edit, and update welding process specifications.
  • Investigate welding-related production issues and implement corrective actions to improve product performance and productivity.
  • Develop repair procedures and evaluate manufacturing flaws to determine fitness-for-service.
  • Develop welding standards, materials requirements, weld joint designs, and welding processes.
  • Develop and support welding procedure qualifications, supplier qualifications, and product testing.
  • Troubleshoot welding and manufacturing problems using strong cause-and-effect analysis.
  • Develop and implement appropriate inspection methods and techniques.
  • Support product quality and process improvement initiatives.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects and process-related activities through completion and required approval processes.
  • Track project actions and follow up on open tasks.
  • Analyze manufacturing data and prepare presentations identifying productivity improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Communicate technical information effectively with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • 4–7+ years of relevant engineering/manufacturing experience.
  • Strong experience with manufacturing processes, methods, and techniques.
  • Experience with welding and brazing processes, particularly involving aluminum and steel.
  • Experience with sheet metal manufacturing preferred.
  • Heat exchanger manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing/blueprint interpretation.
  • Experience developing and troubleshooting production processes.
  • Experience working in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality requirements.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams and drive tasks through completion.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, shop-floor environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Teamcenter.
  • Experience with NX or other 3D modeling software.
  • Familiarity with Solumina.
  • Familiarity with SAP.
  • Experience with aerospace heat exchanger manufacturing.
  • Strong welding process development and qualification experience.

Work Environment & Schedule

This is an on-site position in Windsor Locks, Connecticut.

  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM–11:30 PM
  • Approximately 40 hours per week.
  • Typical 8-hour workdays plus lunch.
  • Shop-floor environment requiring extensive walking.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Approximately 5% travel may be required.
