Job Summary: The Sourcing Engineer is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing suppliers to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and components. This role involves collaborating with various departments to understand technical requirements, negotiating contracts, and optimizing the supply chain to enhance efficiency and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supplier Management:
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery capabilities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Together with the Global Sourcing Manager develop and execute a global sourcing strategy including freight optimization
- Procurement and Negotiation:
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to secure the best deals.
- Manage the procurement process to ensure timely delivery of materials and components.
- Plan and issue purchase orders basaed on MRP demand analysis
- Technical Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to understand technical requirements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to suppliers to ensure product quality and consistency.
- Participate in design reviews and provide input on manufacturability and cost reduction.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction within the supply chain.
- Implement best practices to enhance sourcing efficiency and supplier performance.
- Monitor and analyze market trends to stay informed about industry developments.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of supplier performance, contracts, and procurement activities.
- Prepare and present reports on sourcing performance to senior management.
- Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and compliant with industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sourcing or procurement, in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in using procurement and supply chain management software.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
- Experience in driving sourcing activities: implementing new suppliers and phasing out current suppliers, searching for new suppliers, analyzing supplier markets etc.
- Basic knowledge in understanding drawings and technical requirements for castings and machined parts, turning and milling
- Experience working with sourcing in an international company in Europe or North America is a plus.
- Previous experience of working with sourcing and purchasing in the automotive industry, engineering industry or telecom industry is a strong advantage.
