The Senior Reliability Engineer will provide technical support and assistance in resolving fixed equipment design, operation, and maintenance problems, as well as developing pressure vessel and piping repair plans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists Operations, Product Control, and Maintenance Departments in developing procedures, training, and processes to ensure equipment is operated within its design parameters.
  • Advises engineering on new capital designs and installations to ensure that equipment reliability, operability, and maintainability are addressed.
  • Develops and reviews equipment specifications and standards for reliability improvement.
  • Develops and tracks cost justifications for reliability improvement.
  • Performs all duties following the safety rules and guidelines established by the Refinery.
  • Leads and supports Root Cause Failure Analyses.
  • Ensures/follows up on the execution/implementation of RCFA derived recommendations.
  • Develops basic engineering packages for improvement projects.
  • Generates Management of Change (MOC).
  • Supports PHAs and Reliability Program audits.
  • Specifies equipment according to standards and established practices prior to purchase.
  • Maintains accountability with rotating equipment group to assure that spare parts are stocked as needed based on availability and equipment criticality.
  • Utilizes reliability database, SAP and other electronic tools to track cost, equipment histories and preventive/predictive maintenance.
  • Provides technical support to the inspection department.
  • Uses engineering tools to ensure that damaged equipment is fit for service.
  • Manages clamp installation approvals and tracking.
  • Leads in preparation and planning of the Monthly Reliability Meeting.
  • Provides Weekly Reliability Progress Reports.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree or higher in Engineering required (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
  • Years of specific refinery or petro-chemical related experience within maintenance/engineering.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (P&IDs, Equipment, isometric, etc.)
  • Certified Functional Safety Expert certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SAP preferred.
