The Chief Refinery Inspector will oversee the inspection department to ensure the reliability, integrity, and safety of fixed equipment through effective supervision, inspection programs, and engineering support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads and mentors the Inspection Department, ensuring consistent execution of inspection programs and overall reliability of fixed equipment.
  • Provides technical expertise in the design, fabrication, repair, alteration, and testing of pressure vessels, piping, and other fixed assets.
  • Oversees and coordinates both in-house and contract inspection personnel during turnarounds, shutdowns, and long-duration inspection projects.
  • Develops and maintains programs focused on improving the integrity, safety, and performance of fixed equipment.
  • Performs and directs root cause and metallurgical failure analyses, including corrosion studies and material evaluations.
  • Reviews, edits, and approves inspection reports and recommendations to ensure compliance with engineering requirements, industry codes, and safety standards.
  • Provides guidance in turnaround planning activities, offering input on inspection scope and execution strategy.
  • Prepares and issues detailed inspection summaries, technical reports, and recommendations following inspections or equipment failures.
  • Researches and recommends repair methods and design solutions consistent with applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Supports the Mechanical Reliability Manager by assisting with department oversight and stepping in as backup when required.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree preferred, High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Years experience with fixed equipment reliability and/or engineering experience required.
