Jobholder will be reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and will handle a range of responsibilities aimed at maintaining and enhancing the BEDBs public image.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  1. Brand Management
    1. Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all channels and platforms.
    2. Analyse public perception and adjust strategies in projecting positive image and reputation, branding development of the BEDB.
    3. Identify potential reputational risks arising from the BEDBs activities.
  2. Public Liaison
    1. Act as the primary point of contact with regards to public complaints in collaboration with Chief Executive Officer.
    2. Respond to public inquiries and address concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  3. Media Relations
    1. Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers.
    2. Handles all external media queries and acts as a media spokesperson.
    3. Review and endorse speeches, press releases and other media communications to share news and updates.
  4. Event Coordination
    1. Organise and manage all BEDB external events in conjunction with other BEDB departments to enhance visibility and engagement.
    2. Coordinate external visits to the BEDB.
  5. Crisis Management
    1. Develop crisis communication strategies to address potential issues that could impact the BEDBs reputation alongside with CEOs Office and HSE.
    2. Manage responses during PR crises, ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination.
    3. Conduct crisis response exercise annually.

Key Requirements:

  • At least a Bachelors Degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or any related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant working experience in managing PR campaigns, media relations and enhancing brand visibility, including experience in a managerial role.
  • Strong industry understanding, including trends, regulations, and key stakeholders.
  • Experience in strategy and engagement and ability to develop communications materials.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining a strong focus on quality and results.
  • Ability to develop and implement branding strategies.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Fluency in both English and Malay language, written and oral.
