The role holder is responsible to oversee the maintenance and monitoring of critical systems such as CCTV, AIDS, BHMS, SCADA, alarms, and other integrated systems installed at the Maintenance Office. He/she will work closely with the Facility Manager, Assistant Facility Manager, and other team members to ensure optimal system performance and operational efficiency.

The Technical Assistant (Control Room) is on duty 24/7 at the site and assigned to cover the required shifts.

This role is stationed full-time at Pulau Muara Besar during regular business hours but can be assigned to other sites, as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitoring & Operation of Control Systems

  • Monitor and ensure proper functioning of critical systems including CCTV, AIDS, BHMS, SCADA, Marine Navigation Lighting, and other control systems, conducting regular system checks, performing data backups, logging service requests in FMS, and immediately reporting malfunctions while coordinating with technical teams for fault resolution.

Planned & Corrective Maintenance

  • Assist management in conducting regular audits of control room systems, update and maintain system maintenance plans and schedules, support implementation of corrective actions following system failures, and supervise contractor activities to ensure compliance with standards.

Contractor & Project Supervision

  • Assist management in conducting regular audits of control room systems, update and maintain system maintenance plans and schedules, support implementation of corrective actions following system failures, and supervise contractor activities to ensure compliance with standards.

Facilities Audits & Supervision

  • Support facility management in conducting control room system audits and oversee contractor work execution to ensure adherence to contractual obligations, safety protocols, and quality benchmarks within established timeframes.

HSSE Coordination

  • Support HSSE Coordinators to ensure compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental requirements, participate in safety briefings and emergency response drills, and enforce safety protocols during maintenance and operational activities.

Emergency & Fault Response and Traffic Management

  • Respond to emergencies involving control room systems including alarms and security incidents, coordinate with technical teams to implement emergency protocols, monitor traffic conditions and report incidents, assist in traffic management responses, and operate specialized equipment like median barriers and weighing devices.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate logs of control room activities, system performance, and service requests, prepare and submit reports to management regarding system status and issues, ensure proper documentation of all incidents and maintenance actions for audit purposes, and regularly perform data backups to ensure system continuity.

Other duties

  • Undertake any other tasks assigned by the Facility Manager or KIU Lead.
  • Participate in training and development related to control room operations, monitoring technologies, and emergency preparedness.

        Key Requirements:

        • Holds a technical certificate in relevant areas or similar qualification
        • Minimum of (3) years' experience in related field
        • Possess good oral and written communication skills to coordinate with team members and report incidents
        • Ability to work effectively with FM Team, contractors, and BEDB HSSE team
        • Ability in monitoring, logging, and responding to system alerts
        • Proficiency in using relevant systems
        • Comprehensive knowledge of workplace safety and health practices

        NOTE: This is a contract position with the opportunity for permanent conversion based on business requirements.
